Hassell lands design role on Melbourne Airport’s T2 satellite expansion
How do you expand a major international gateway without hitting pause on the city’s primary connection to the world? At Melbourne Airport, the answer lies in a steady terminal evolution.
Building on our five-year partnership with Australia Pacific Airports (Melbourne), Hassell has been appointed for the architecture and interiors scope for the crucial International Terminal 2 (T2) satellite expansion and refurbishment.
Part of a broader transformation, our brief requires a complex integration: stitching together intelligent new buildings with the refurbishment of existing assets. We’re also balancing an intricate mix of aviation logistics, retail, and premium lounges — all while the terminal remains fully operational.
Drawing on our recent work across Melbourne Airport’s Terminal 1 and Terminal 2, our focus centres on the traveller experience. By weaving together infrastructure and hospitality, we’re designing a distinct, effortless gateway that handles the demands of the future while offering travellers a world-class Melbourne experience.
