Mark plays a pivotal role at Hassell, overseeing our design quality worldwide and setting our direction as a global practice.
An internationally experienced architect with a broad focus that includes public, civic and higher education buildings, he has contributed to city-shaping projects throughout Australia, the US, Europe, and Asia.
His diverse portfolio includes learning facilities across a wide range of university campuses, major infrastructure projects such as Melbourne Metro, commercial developments, and cultural institutions such as the Western Australian Museum Boola Bardip and Geelong Arts Centre.
Recently completed projects include Park Avenue Central, a new urban mixed-use development in Shanghai, Otter Street, a boutique residential development in Collingwood, Melbourne, and ongoing higher education projects for Monash University and The University of Melbourne. He also leads design competitions. The latest wins include Ngurra, the National Indigenous Knowledge and Cultural Centre and home to the National Resting Place in Canberra, and Flinders Street Station in Melbourne. He formerly played a lead role in San Francisco’s M.H. de Young Museum in Golden Gate Park, among other North American projects in New York and Miami while at the Swiss practice Herzog & de Meuron.
