Masterplan for Hassell-led ecological park endorsed by Sunshine Coast Council

Nature-positive news: Sunshine Coast Council has endorsed the masterplan for Sunshine Coast Ecological Park, with 65 hectares of farmland set to become a refuge for wildlife and a place for communities to marvel at the beauty of fauna and flora. The project, led by Hassell, aims to restore the land to its former glory, ​‘heal Country’, revive ecosystems, and provide nature-based recreation and education for communities. Best of the best vying to design great park for new city in western Sydney

Hassell and four other leading architecture firms are shortlisted in the design competition for a stunning two hectare ​‘Central Park’ park in Australia’s newest city - Bradfield - alongside Western Sydney Airport. Landscape architect and juror, James Corner said public space is the lifeblood of any successful city and community. ​“This is not just landscape, planting, and greening. Five designs for new Western Sydney ​‘Central Park’

Hassell is amongst five Australian landscape architecture practices shortlisted in the competition to design a two-hectare park in a new city development near the proposed Western Sydney Airport. Western Sydney Parklands Authority chair Jennifer Westacott said, ​“Investment in public spaces is important because a well-designed public space brings people and importantly businesses in, boosting the economic value of everything around it…” Read the full article in ArchitectureAU.
