Peter Lee elevated to Life Fellow of the Australian Institute of Architects

Hassell Principal and Board Director, Peter Lee has been recognised for his commitment to the architecture and design industry by being elevated to Life Fellow of the Australian Institute of Architects.

On making the announcement National President of the Australian Institute of Architects, Professor Helen Lochhead said the elevation was “in honour of [Peter’s] notable significant contribution to the profession through practice engagement with the Institute, allied professional associations and various Boards”.

Throughout his career Peter has led numerous award-winning projects culminating in the 2011 Australian Institute of Architect Awards - Walter Burley Griffin Award for Urban Design and George Temple Poole Award for one40william. In 2015 Peter received the Curtin University Alumni Achievement Award in the Faculty of Humanities and the Architects Board of Western Australia Board Award.

Peter maintains a high profile within the architecture profession and the West Australian business community and board roles with Hassell, FORM, Foundation Housing, Open House Perth and Rottnest Island Authority.

Hassell Managing Director, Steve Coster said this acknowledgment of Peter’s achievements is well deserved.

“Pete always strives to deliver the best outcome for our clients. He is constantly pushing Hassell to be the best it can be, and this has delivered proven success stories across our practice,” Steve said.

“Pete is also incredibly well connected throughout the design industry and sits on numerous boards and other groups to help push excellence within the industry.

“All of these things highlight his suitability for this type of acknowledgment from the Institute. Hassell is proud of Pete’s achievements and he will no doubt continue to achieve in the future,” he said.

Peter said that this type of acknowledgment is a great honour, but also unexpected.

“I am fortunate to work in an industry that I love and am passionate about, as well as working in a company filled with like-minded people who want to achieve great outcomes. It is an honour to receive this recognition, especially being included in a list of peers including Professor Helen Lochhead and Roger Poole,” Peter said.
