Carrie Ho
“There’s been a dramatic shift from ‘big box’ retail to a different type of development – more destination oriented, curated, individual and social in nature.”
Carrie leads our work within the retail sector in the fast-changing cities of China, where she’s based.
An experienced professional with training in both interiors and urban design, Carrie has a sharp eye for consumer and social trends – and the way they can influence and elevate a design.
Her background and focus have been invaluable on projects such as the Alibaba Taobao City Mall in Hangzhou – the online retail giant’s first bricks-and-mortar shopping centre – and community hub Sanlin InCity Mall in Shanghai.
For a successful retail project, Carrie believes you have to design around people’s needs and aspirations, provide different experiences to help them navigate the space and fulfil their desire for a sense of connection. At the end of the day, it’s about great commercial spaces for gathering and socialising – not just shopping.
