The changing university

As part of our commitment to knowledge leadership in the Education and Science sector, HASSELL has reviewed the master planning processes of some of the world's leading universities to determine the drivers of change and themes currently affecting university campuses.

Conducted in two stages - initially looking at Australia's Group of Eight (Go8) universities, then expanding to incorporate 18 additional universities around the world - the review provided significant insights into the measures universities are taking to address changing pedagogies, building typologies, funding and partnership opportunities.

At a time when universities are coming under increasing financial, political and environmental pressure, this work emphasises how a robust and cohesive master plan can help universities safeguard against unforseen challenges and continue to attract the world's best staff and students.
