Culture and the Arts
We have designed venues of all types and scales – whether it’s a performing arts space serving a region of 200,000 people or an entire entertainment and convention precinct transforming a city of more than five million
Museums, galleries, concert halls, theatres and stadiums all play a vital role in the cultural, social and economic development of cities and regions, helping them compete for major events – and more visitors. The best venues do even more, establishing a civic identity that reinforces a sense of place and creates a memorable experience.
Achieving all those things isn’t easy when the landscape is constantly changing. For example, technology has had a massive impact on the way we ‘consume’ art and other entertainment. When they can virtually visit or view just about anything with the touch of a finger, audiences expect much more from their real-life experiences.
Diverse revenue streams are increasingly important to the growth and development of venues. At the same time, those elements need to be cleverly integrated so the experience doesn’t feel too calculated and commercial for the user.
HASSELL has a deep understanding of how to design venues that address these needs without losing sight of the ultimate goal – to create places people love.
Our international, cross-disciplinary teams combine their expertise in sectors such as hospitality, sport and entertainment and urban design to conceive places that work on multiple levels yet feel seamless for users, with everything they need in one place.
They easily adapt to changing operational and guest needs, delivering value to their owners and operators. But they also generate constant buzz and activity by adding an element of interest and excitement to the cities and communities that surround them.
