Australian Intern Program

HASSELL offers both 6-month and 12-month paid fulltime internships for both students, who are currently enrolled at university, and recent graduates. HASSELL is now looking for talented students and graduates to join us and become our next generation. Successful interns will have the chance to work on a variety of projects to build an understanding of the functions and processes involved in project work.

Commercial Manager

The role

We’re looking for a Commercial Manager with strong consultancy and stakeholder management experience in large scale urban projects to join our Melbourne Metro team.

This is your opportunity to become part of an integrated team of architects, interior designers, landscape architects and urban designers to work on large, city-shaping, mixed use infrastructure projects.

About you

To be successful in the role you will have, previous experience managing contracts and or commercial matters for the architectural, building or engineering industry and the ability to facilitate and coordinate the completion of a large scale projects from design to completion stage.

Key skills and experience

_Commercial acumen
_Strong communication, consultancy, inter-personal and stakeholder management skills
_Ability to manage contracts, negotiate scope changes, and report on commercial and financial position
_Ability to manage probity requirements, resourcing and finances for the project
_Monitor project progress against timeline and facilitate the smooth running of the program
_Previous experience in the design and/or construction industry
_Experience managing design consultancy services
_Experience with major infrastructure projects desirable but not essential

Key tasks and capabilities

Fees:
_Timesheet validation and processing for invoicing
_Establish and update project work plan - fees, costs, resourcing, etc.
_Prepare and submit forecasts – fees, cash flow

_Debtors - monitor, pursue and report
_Cash flow - monthly reporting and adjustment as required
_Advanced excel skills required.

Variations:
_Prepare and coordinate variation submissions and lead negotiations – scope, program, deliverables and fees

Risk Mitigation:
_Lead the risk identification, reporting and mitigation process
_Contract review, working with practice management and our insurers to determine the intent and consequences of contract conditions
_Report to JV Board team of any impeding contractual issues and delivering plans of action to deal with them
_Monitoring contractual obligations; ensuring records of actions are taken
_Ensure responses are made as required under contractual conditions to safeguard our position.

Program:
_Review and update project program as required
_Advise on consequences and propose programs that work with the design teams to be the most effective and commercially efficient in the way we work
_Negotiate change to programs as necessary
_Advanced use of MS Project or equivalent.

Probity:
_Manage and periodically update the project Probity Plan

Reporting:
_Prepare weekly/fortnightly/monthly progress reports as required – internal and external.

Design Strategist – Knowledge and Sustainability

The successful candidate will actively participate in strategy projects with HASSELL and you will contribute to the deliverables of these projects. You will bring to this position:

Senior Documentation Architect

We’re looking for a Senior Documentation Architect with strong experience in large scale projects to join our Melbourne team.

We are now looking for a Senior Architectural Technician to join our Brisbane Studio where you will assist the design and documentation teams to produce accurate architectural, design and documentation drawings, specifications and related construction documents.

The position will include the coordination of architectural and sub-consultants works, technical resolution of architectural issues and assistance to the documentation teams.  Ability will be assessed subject to experience but all candidates must be technically proficient and preferably highly skilled in relevant software to support design communication and documentation.

You will act as a point of contact and the controller of all standards and information inputted into Revit based BIM model/s. The following skills and experience are required:

_Minimum 6 years’ experience in a similar role

Associate Interior Designer/Interior Architect - Team Leader

Our London studio is currently involved in a number of high profile, international projects in the commercial workplace, education and other sectors. With our project workload increasing, we are now seeking a creative, interior design / interior architect Associate with a strong focus on project delivery and client engagement to join our expanding team as a valued team leader.

In this position, you will apply your excellent understanding of a workplace design and delivery process in the London market from client liaison and concept design to leading interior package documentation, technical detailing using AutoCAD and NBS specification as well as outstanding leadership skills. 

As a talent team leader, you will bring to this position:

_Excellent design, presentation and graphics skills
_A minimum of 10 years’ experience at a senior designer level working within London market on workplace projects
_A consultative approach to managing clients on design and technical aspects of a project
_An ability to manage multiple teams and inspire design excellence across all projects
_Proven experience in directing a design team through design documentation - leading interior package documentation, technical drawing and writing specifications required
_Site experience required with contract administration experience preferred
_Commercial awareness in the management of finances, resources, and personnel at a senior level
_Relevant experience briefing and operating as the key project stakeholder liaison
_Proactive approach in building and maintaining client relationships with an interest in driving new business opportunities
_Willingness and interest in leading and mentoring our emerging designers in design, industry and technical issues
_High proficiency in AutoCAD and Adobe Creative Suite
_A working knowledge of Revit would be an advantage, but training will be provided where necessary
_Relevant degree in interior architecture, architecture or interior design

Mid-Weight Interior Designer/Architect

An exciting opportunity exists at HASSELL for a Middle Level Interior Designer or Interior Architect to join the team in our London, UK studio to work on workplace, amongst other exciting projects. The preferred candidates will have proven experience in workplace interior design working within the UK who already possess a solid grounding in AutoCAD detail documentation for workplace fit-out projects. You will be a talented interior designer with excellent design skills using SketchUp 3D (or Rhino) and Adobe Suite Package. Familiarity with UK regulations, NBS specification and some knowledge of Revit/BIM is also desirable. Project portfolio examples and proven skill in visualising 3D interior concepts are required in order for the applicants to be considered for this role.

Key skills and experience:
_Excellent design and graphics skills
_5 years minimum experience gained working within the UK on workplace projects
_Relevant degree in Interior Design, Interior Architecture or Architecture
_Experience with AutoCAD, Revit (at least basic knowledge desirable), SketchUp, Rhino and Adobe Creative Suite.
_Proven experience in design documentation - technical drawing and interior package documentation for workplace fit outs, including joinery documentation experience, NBS spec familiarity, are required.

Our London studio is looking for a talented interior designer/architect with excellent design and delivery skills to join our team working on a growing number of exciting high profile workplace projects. A creative designer with a solid background at leading design firms, the preferred candidates will have proven experience in all aspects of workplace design and delivery in the London market from client liaison, briefing and concept design to leading interior package documentation, technical detailing using AutoCAD, NBS specification and knowledge of BIM processes. Experience in working on integrated projects in education desirable but not essential. 

Key skills and experience:

_Excellent design, presentation and graphics skills
_7 years minimum experience gained working within UK (preferably London) market on workplace projects
_Relevant degree in Interior Design, Interior Architecture or Architecture
_Client facing experience
_Experience with AutoCAD, Revit (at least basic skills desirable), SketchUp and Adobe Crative Suite. Knowledge of Rhino desirable but not essential for this role
_Proven experience in design documentation - leading interior package documentation, technical drawing in AutoCAD, NBS specifications - required
_Self-motivated focus to achieve project deadlines
