The Australian High Speed Vehicle (A-HSV) has been designed in response to national debates on environmental, economical and social issues. Inspired by the brut lines of the iconic Australian speed machine the 1960s HK Monaro, HASSELL has designed the A-HSV to be responsive to the Australian context

Allowing for light into underground areas while also rising at the edges to create two green atriums for interchange movement and improved lines of sight to the underground services, this gesture expanded the project scope to beyond the brief

The GCRT project will support the movement of athletes, officials and spectators at the 2018 Commonwealth Games and be a long-term catalyst for new investment and development on the Gold Coast – creating a spectrum of opportunity to manage and direct growth

Trainshed Way is an urban renewal project that has reinvigorated the Geelong Railway Station precinct by introducing a new street which reorients the station precinct towards the heritage building facade, framing it as the central focal point. This forms a strategic visual and physical connection between the station and the Geelong foreshore

The design presents a new sustainable typology with ticketing, amenities and management located deep underground, enabling a single employee to manage the station from one central location

The project was delivered through a collaborative procurement model by a team of architects, engineers, community relations professionals and contractors who worked together with the client in one location for more than 12 months

The dramatic entrance canopies allow extensive use of natural day light throughout the underground stations. The strong, elegant design incorporates simple, unambiguous circulation on concourse and platform areas, a robust palette of materials to accommodate heavy wear and tear, and a vibrant overlay of signage and public art to animate the public realm

At a functional level, the major refurbishment successfully integrates the previously disparate activities of the different airlines using the terminal, not only improving operational efficiencies, but also the wayfinding and management of queues and crowds

The new station at William Street is a vital interchange with links to the existing Perth Station and the city centre. Esplanade Station services the Swan River foreshore and the adjacent Perth Convention and Exhibition Centre with a delicate pavilion
