STREET WORKS invited entrants to re-imagine spaces in the City of Sydney as dynamic, innovative and sustainable temporary public places that will bring people together in unique ways. The HASSELL concept, called Walk the Line, is a path that connects all six of the STREET WORKS spaces

The overall strategy for the open space planning within Zhuhai was to create an iconic environment that builds upon the site's unique context, forming a CBD that looks outwardly to its waterfront and harbour

The House of Arts and Culture is a twenty-four-seven city house, fuelled with the creative potential of a vibrant cosmopolitan culture that thrives on activity, community and cultural life

The buildings forms are designed to facilitate pedestrian movement in and around the complex. The design integrates the existing landscape, historic buildings and ancient city wall, and provides clear views to and from the existing Mingseng central business district

The Darwin Convention Centre is the centrepiece of the city's new A$1.1 billion Darwin Cove Redevelopment and has transformed the waterfront area to a destination drawcard for locals, business travellers and tourists

A cable is suspended over a pond and playground, on it balances a series of sculptures which take on the shape of abstracted birds in flight. The light shapes pivot and rock in the breeze

Our proposal was for a very clear and memorable scheme that unifies two sites and various building functions under a single canopy. The canopy form ensures a strong, singular image that is legible from the air, surrounding highways and from a human perspective at street level

The blocks display the different states of sandstone from a split block and roughly quarried blocks to finished and fine details. Carvings include replications of details found on the General Post Office, Government House, the Great Synagogue and St Mary's Cathedral

The design of this 12,000 square metre drama complex expresses a sense of theatricality at every opportunity. A large unifying horizontal roof plane gives a bold public scale to the street frontage, enveloping a generous foyer space dramatically revealed to the passing public through a high glass wall

An underlying approach to the design has been to acknowledge the historical layers of the site so that the new works become part of the ongoing narrative of the library, thereby maintaining the integrity of the original design, and ensuring continued enjoyment by future generations

The first of Australia's performing arts centres, the Adelaide Festival Centre is still acknowledged by audiences and performers as the best of its kind in the nation.
