The Karratha Vernacular project builds on the State Government's Pilbara Cities programme to create a series of liveable, beautiful and high quality places within Western Australia's north west.
HASSELL designed a bespoke methodology to understand Karratha's sense of place through three themes: _natural systems and processes _people and activities _buildings and technology
This informed a number of broad principles which were distilled to give a direction for the form of Karratha's city centre and new residential areas. These principles were then synthesised into high quality imagery and a guideline report which forms the basis for new development proposals in Karratha.
