The Darwin City Waterfront focuses on the provision of generous open parklands with mature shade trees and associated exotic planting for Darwin residents and visitors to enjoy through all of the Territory's unique dramatic seasons. The parklands include the Northern Territory's first open air wave lagoon, cultural facilities and interpretive public art. They are supported by a variety of retail and alfresco drinking and dining opportunities including an apartment hotel, residential apartments and a convention centre. The Darwin Convention Centre was completed and formally opened in late 2008, while the remainder of the redevelopment was completed in mid-2009.
