HASSELL was engaged by the City of Salisbury to prepare a visionary set of landscape guidelines for the development of the city's public domain over the next 25 years. This included all open spaces, road corridors, town centres and gateways. An excellent understanding of the area's landscape character, ecosystems, wetlands, road hierarchies and relevant council policies was required to guide existing and future development of Salisbury's landscapes.
A landscape plan has been prepared which includes guidance on water sensitive urban design, maintenance, irrigation, selection of indigenous plant species, exotic species and revegetation works.
The document is intended to be a 'live' document and able to reflect current best practices and other demands. It has been the recipient of numerous awards, recognising the importance of the plan and the environmental challenges the city is facing.
