ART4D Supplement (Thailand)
March 2011
pp. 1-27
The PTTEP Headquarters project arose from a desire to co-locate and consolidate the various head office functions of the nation's petroleum exploration company from a number of buildings in Bangkok into the recently constructed ENCO building.
The supplement on PTTEP published by ART4D elaborates on many various design aspects of the new headquarters, including the gradation of the flame which provided the colour palette for the interiors, the landscape design of the top floors, the staircase that is the core of the building and connects the many floors and the building's many sustainable design features.
The open plan design of this workplace moves away from the clichéd notions of what an office should be, and staff and client satisfaction demonstrates how successful this has been.
Luechai Wongsirasawad, PTTEP Executive Vice President, is quoted in the supplement: "Around one year after moving into the new workplace, positive reactions from the employees have been noted. Most of them appreciate the new approach to work, which makes daily routine interesting. Also, they feel that working has become more natural with the new workplace layout under the concept that 'work does not need to happen at your desk or conference room all the time'. Our office visitors are also impressed with the beautiful and elegant decorations of the meeting floor and the reception, our maintenance, security, and our efficient use of all the facilities, which is at par with international standards that demonstrate the professionalism of PTTEP."
