Regional Work Practices Leader

We are seeking a Regional Work Practices Leader based in our Brisbane studio with exceptional communication skills and the ability to build strong relationships internally and externally.

Work Practices is a key part of our project delivery and is to be undertaken to industry best practice through all project stages. Fundamental to this is the ability to facilitate the delivery of projects across HASSELL with excellent design outcomes, full client endorsement and benchmark profits achieved/exceeded. Work Practices is the umbrella of existing communities incorporating our Professional Practice system, Safety in Design, Design Technologies, Virtual Teaming, Visualisation and Model making.

The Regional Work Practices Leader will report to the Head of Work Practices and Brisbane Studio Manager with the responsibility to ensure that work practices at HASSELL is undertaken consistently at both the strategic and operational levels. Utilising your well established project delivery and communication skills, your key responsibilities will include:

_Establish studio project delivery KPIs in association with the Head of Work Practices
_Assist Team Leaders in managing projects and key deliverables
_Assist Principals in managing projects and key deliverables, including programming, resourcing and fee generation (workflow)
_Add value to the studio’s infrastructure and processes
_Facilitate project audits and reviews from design through to documentation
_Oversee project initiation process and assist in project setup, in conjunction with Team Leader and project Principal
_Attend regular Work Practice teleconferences
_Preparation of Studio workshops and working group activities
_Lead Work Practices within the studio, inclusive of Professional Practice, Safety in Design, Design Technology, Virtual Teaming and Model Making
_Involvement in working groups and attendance at workshops as required
_Preparation of monthly Studio Work Practice Reports
_Drive and report the outcomes of project documentation reviews, and ensure that they are carried out in a timely manner
_Chair regular studio meetings to monitor progress of Work Practices and compliance with our Professional Practice system

Key skills and experience
_A strong practitioner with a working knowledge of project delivery and project workflows at a senior level
_Demonstrated ability to organise, prioritise and deliver work autonomously
_Leadership skills required to manage relationships with staff across all levels
_Demonstrated ability to facilitate meetings and lead a team
_Demonstrated experience with the implementation of focused initiatives
_Understanding of project workflows (schematic design, design development, construction documentation phases, building construction sequencing), and project management
_Understanding of different needs of the delivery team (client, architects, engineers, estimators and contractors) and helping the team to meet deliverables and deadlines
_Understanding of construction techniques are desirable
_Understanding of pre-construction services are desirable

Architecture Internships

HASSELL offers year out paid fulltime internships for students who are either currently enrolled at university or have just graduated. Students will have the chance to work in various areas within the studio throughout the year, learning about its various functions of and the processes involved in project work.

Senior Landscape Architect / Associate

We currently have a vacancy for a Senior Landscape Architect/Associate. You will be responsible for delivering complex projects through to a successful completion, by leading project teams in completing design, documentation and contract administration of various interesting and significant projects both around Australia and internationally.

Key skills and experience

You will be required to have an understanding of the specific components of such projects from procurement through to implementation. Skills in concept development and communication are important, as is the ability to lead highly motivated design and documentation teams.  

A minimum of eight to ten years experience in the public and private domain of urban environments is essential, as is AILA registration. You will also have demonstrated skills in project financial management, documentation, specification writing, contract administration and professional presentation. Knowledge of Western Australian plants and an understanding of the unique Western Australian environment is also required.

Proficiency in AutoCAD and Adobe packages is a base requirement. Sketchup and 3D presentation skills would be an advantage.

Hospitality and Tourism Sector Leader

HASSELL is currently seeking a dynamic Hospitality and Tourism Sector Leader.

The successful candidate will have an architectural background and be responsible for positioning the firm in the region by delivering complex projects through to a successful completion. This role for this sector is to identify and secure opportunities, develop design solutions, assume responsibility for and assist in the development of design concepts and prepare with the project team documentation for tenders and construction. Mid-Level Interior Designer

An exciting opportunity exists at HASSELL for a Mid-Level Interior Designer or Architect to join the team in our London, UK studio. The successful candidate will work on an exciting global headquarter workplace project in central London, for a blue chip company. The preferred candidate will have proven experience in workplace interior design working within the UK. They will be a good all-rounder with a solid grounding in AutoCad detail documentation for workplace fitout projects, technical detailing, joinery documentation, and interior package documentation. Familiarity with UK regulations, NBS specification is required. The preferred candidate will be a talented interior designer with excellent design skills using SketchUp 3D and Adobe Photoshop. Project portfolio examples and proven skill in visualising 3D interior concepts are a must. Skills using Revit also advantageous.
