Rail Architects

We are seeking architects with strong experience in railway station design to join our Hong Kong, Singapore, Perth, Sydney and Brisbane studios.

Design experience with TfNSW, MTR or MRT underground station upgrades/alteration will be a distinct advantage. All our rail projects are delivered using Rhino and Revit. Willingness to travel is essential.

Project BIM/Information Manager

An exciting opportunity exists for a talented and ambitious individual to play a key role within our project delivery teams based in our Brisbane studio. The Project BIM/Information Manager is a leader within the studio, coordinating the Building Information Model/s (BIM) and associated information structures and data for projects.

The successful applicant will manage the processes (technology) and the greater project team (people) to ensure the quality of the BIM is as per the requirements set forth in the BIM Management Plan. Typically the role involves managing design stages only, but as the project moves into Construction, he/she may also be actively assisting the contractor and/or Client. It is the Model Manager's role to audit this database for succinct information and to notify the relevant team member when issues arise. It is important that BIM supports the project design aspirations, and is an integral part of the design process. 

Additional responsibilities will include

_Clash detection and the use of checking applications
_Co-ordinating changes to the HASSELL BIM with other Consultants Model Managers
_Auditing and managing the Model element author's daily and weekly tasks
_Building the project specific content to project standards
_Testing different modelling techniques; and teaching and mentoring the project staff
_Participate in and comply with project team management procedures and processes including risk and value management, performance management and measurement procedures, change management procedures including adjustments to budgets and programme, attendance at project and design team meetings as required

Architecture Internships (6 or 12 months)

HASSELL offers year out paid fulltime internships for students who are either currently enrolled at university or have recently graduated.

Successful Interns will have the chance to work in various areas within the studio throughout the year, learning about its various functions of and the processes involved in project work.

Internships are for 6 or 12 month periods and generally commence in January and July annually.

Senior Landscape Architect/Associate

We currently have a position available for a Senior Landscape Architect/Associate.  You will be responsible for delivering complex projects through to a successful completion, by leading project teams in completing design, documentation and contract administration of various interesting and significant projects both around Australia and internationally. 

You will be required to have an understanding of the specific components of such projects from procurement through to implementation.  Skills in concept development and communication are important, as is the ability to lead highly motivated design and documentation teams.  

A minimum of eight to ten years experience in the public and private domain of urban environments is essential, as is AILA registration.  You will also have demonstrated skills in project financial management, documentation, specification writing, contract administration and professional presentation.  Knowledge of WA plants and an understanding of the unique WA environment is also required.

Proficiency in AutoCAD and Adobe packages is a base requirement. Revit, Sketchup and 3D presentation skills would be an advantage.

HASSELL offers paid full-time internships for Landscape Architecture students who are either currently enrolled at university or have just graduated and looking for an internship placement. Students will have the chance to work in various areas within the studio throughout the intern period, learning about its various functions of and the processes involved in project work.

If you are interested in an internship at HASSELL, please note that they last for six or 12 months. These dates are mandatory and training starts in July 2014 and January 2015. There are no short term summer internships available. Applications must be received by 1 May for the July intake and by 1 November for the January 2015 intake.

Senior Credit Controller

We are now looking for a Senior Credit Controller to join our Shanghai studio. This position will play an important role, working closely with senior management in managing the working capital requirements of the business.

Key responsibilities:

_Ensure debts are paid in a timely manner
_Chase overdue invoices by telephone, mail, letter and etc. within agreed timescales
_Monitor and analyse collection trends and identify debt issues at an early stage for resolution
_Regular meetings with PMs or SM to ensure all debts are managed as necessary

An exciting opportunity exists at HASSELL for a Mid-Weight Interior Designer or Architect to join the team in our London, UK studio to work on an exciting Global HQ workplace project in central London, for a blue chip company.

The preferred candidates will have proven experience in workplace interior design working within the UK.  A good all rounder with a solid grounding in AutoCad detail documentation for workplace fitout projects, technical detailing, joinery documentation, and interior package documentation. 

Familiarity with UK regulations, NBS specification and BIM is required.  A talented interior designer with excellent design skills using SketchUp 3D and Adobe Photoshop. Project portfolio examples and proven skill in visualising 3D interior concepts are a must. Skills using Revit also advantageous.

We are now looking for an Associate Interior Designer with excellent design and delivery skills to join our team working on a growing number of exciting high profile London based workplace projects.

A creative designer with a solid background at leading design firms the preferred candidates will have proven experience in all aspects of workplace design and delivery in the London market from client liaison, briefing and concept design to leading interior package documentation, technical detailing using AutoCAD and NBS specification.

Key skills and experience

_Excellent design, presentation and graphics skills
_10 years minimum experience gained working within London market on workplace projects
_Strong experience and skills in the management of finances, resources, and personnel at a senior level
_Relevant degree in Interior Design, Interior Architecture or Architecture
_Client facing experience
_Experienced with AutoCAD, Sketch-up, Adobe Suite (Revit an advantage)
_Proven experience in design documentation - leading interior package documentation, technical drawing in AutoCAD, NBS specifications - required
_Self-motivated focus to achieve project deadlines

Finance Support

We are now looking for a Finance Support position in our Cardiff studio, to play a key role in the support of the UK leadership team.

The UK practice has two studios; one in Cardiff and London. This role will provide support for both studios. The position will also require a close working relationship with the staff in the UK studios and will involve undertaking additional tasks that may not be specified in this description from time to time.

Key Responsibilities:

_Liaise with Finance Teams in other studios for the preparation of accounts;
_Monitor and maintain company bank accounts;
_Issue and process approved petty cash claims (including tax invoice);
_Process staff expense claims;
_Prepare accounts payable on a timely basis;
_Ensure UK staff timesheets are completed in a timely manner;
_Prepare cashflow forecasts;
_Monitor debtor account;
_Arrange payments on a weekly basis

Key Professional Skills and Qualifications:

_Knowledge in basic accounting and book-keeping skills;
_Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality;
_Ability to use own initiative and perform duties under limited supervision;
_Proven professional experience within a corporate environment;
_Excellent organisational and communication skills, as well as an eye for detail and a meticulous work approach; _Intermediate level MS Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook etc);
_Intermediate level Microsoft Dynamics AX would be beneficial
_Good time management skills
_Minimum of 3 years recent experience in accounts / finance role preferred

Business Services Support

We are currently hiring for the position of Business Service Support, a key role in support of the UK leadership team. Our UK practice has two studios; one in Cardiff and London. The role will provide support for both studios and is a maternity leave cover. The position will require a close working relationship with the staff in the UK studios and will involve undertaking additional tasks that may not be specified in this description from time to time.

Administration:

_Manage and oversee a smooth and efficient administrative operation;
_Tenant liaison and coordination of Cardiff premises maintenance;
_Preparation and distribution of reports, letters, meeting minutes and the like as required;
_Assisting with general filing and archiving of documents to meet the HASSELL procedure;
_Co-ordinating all external (including international) teleconferences as required;
_Coordinate, organise and ensure the smooth operation of client events, and other external marketing functions as required;
_Manage travel requirements for staff including flights, visas, accommodation, trains, etc.
_Maintain appropriate supplies of office consumables;
_Manage the account with Studio suppliers to obtain best price/discount and to meet the HASSELL sustainable procurement guideline;

Human Resources:

_Issue and file London and Cardiff employment agreements;
_Ensure all necessary employment visas and travel documents are valid and correct;
_Ensure orientation/induction program is conducted for new staff;
_Maintain weekly absence calendar records;

Cardiff Studio Reception (informal):

_Ensure primary telephone answering for incoming calls at all times during regular office hours;
_Greeting visitors on behalf of the company
_Coordinate all incoming and outgoing mail and packages with couriers and messengers;
_Manage the booking of meeting rooms and ensure refreshments are organised/provided as required;
_Manage the booking out/return of Studio equipment;
_Maintain the Studio in a clean and presentable state:
_Liaise with external cleaners and monitor service

Personal Assistant to Cardiff Studio Principals:

_Provide Personal Assistant support to the two Cardiff Principals;
_Review, flagging for attention and filing of all email correspondence received/generated;
_Manage diaries of the two Cardiff Principals;
_Arranging all travel, meetings and appointments;

Key Professional Skills and Qualifications: 

_Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality;
_Ability to use own initiative and perform duties under limited supervision;
_Proven professional experience within a corporate environment;
_Excellent organisational and communication skills, as well as an eye for detail and a meticulous work approach;
_Initiative and preparedness to take on responsibility;
_The ability to communicate professionally with people at the highest level of the industry;
_Advanced level MS Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook etc);
_Knowledge of Adobe Suite (Photoshop, PageMaker, InDesign, Illustrator, Acrobat etc);
_Graphic presentation skills including basic design and aesthetic appreciation;
_Ability to check and correct written material for spelling and grammatical accuracy;
_Good time management skills;
